Since I have started a mentorship program and started the art of DOING, I can say a new life awaits me. I’ve been busy taking my fears and facing them head on. I’ve been scheduling time to photograph, to write and to do my blog each week. I’ve taken time to learn new things and to expand my goals and dreams.
I’m in the process of editing my first book, which will fall into the category of Romance. I’m a hopeless romantic so I had to write in this genre. I want my books to not only be romantic but, to provide hope, show love, and even some inspiration to those readers that decide to follow me.
I’m learning new things with my photography and trying new things that I had not thought of before. I’m developing my craft one step at a time with one photo shoot at a time. I’m choosing to photograph the things I love, which makes it easier to totally be passionate about what images I choose to capture.
I’m also now getting to share the knowledge I’ve learned through writers, photographers and my mentor with others that need some guidance. This has been quite fun and rewarding as it makes me see that I know more than I did even a year ago about my new passions in life. Giving to others after receiving such blessings is only going to make this life an even better experience.
Overcoming fears has allowed me to be productive in areas that I never thought were possible before due to them. Now, I look at those fears and ask myself why not now? Why wait years before I choose to step forth even if I fall on my face and have to get up and try again? It’s exciting to know that when you go through this and conquer a fear here and a fear there that you were the only one holding you back from those dreams in the first place.
I say to you, when are you going to start doing and conquer your fears? When are you going to make your dreams the priority over those fears? The only one holding you back is you! Find out what kind of new life you could have by facing one thing each day that could step you forward in your life to what you ultimately want and how you can help others in the process.
Leave a comment on how you have conquered a fear or made a dream come true. If you know this would inspire someone else then please forward this blog to others. Thank you for reading. Have a blessed day!
I was challenged recently to look back and share how I began with photography on another social media platform. During that process as I was reviewing what I had photographed my own eyes were opened to how I began and how I improved in the last 20 years. I had grown in my technique, style, composition, clarified what images I enjoyed taking and what was special to me, brought meaning to me, inspired me, gave me hope and encouraged me and hopefully soon in my future others.
We all start any creative ‘hobby’ having to learn how to use a camera, paints, brushes, clay, or fabrics. Each time you use that talent, you improve even from the day before because you learned something new that can make you better. Knowledge and repetition allows us to improve, to take a hobby and turn it into something more.
It’s like learning how to drive a car, when you first start you have to pay attention to everything, adjusting mirrors, when to use your lights, how to use the wipers, turning on the heat or AC, driving in the center of your lane, when to brake, and so on. Once you have learned to drive by practicing over and over again you get where you don’t think about the mechanics of driving, as it’s now something you do automatically.
It’s the same with photography or painting, once you get use to the mechanics of the camera settings, or how the paints mix and the brushes glide over the canvas you no longer focus on this aspect when you sit down to paint or when you go to take a photograph. You automatically know how so you pick a project or a subject to photograph, just like you pick a destination to drive your car.
Are you struggling with a combination of both how to use the tools and what to create? Is this keeping you from doing anything at all? Then start doing, that repetition will make using the tools something you no longer have to struggle with and you can then focus on ‘what’ you wish to do instead. Baby steps allow improvement, so work on those basic mechanics so you know them and keep doing. Dreams come true this way.
Share this with someone you know that could be going through a time of struggle with the creative process to encourage them or leave a comment below.
Have a Blessed Day!
The ‘White Calla Lilly’ is a symbol of elegance and sophistication, that’s why it’s used so often for weddings as it stands for purity of thought and the eloquence of heavenly bliss. This particular flower is also used for Easter as the cone like shape symbolizes trumpets heralding victory and Christ’s passion on the cross. Calla Lilies are strong symbols of rebirth at spring, youth and innocence.
This particular flower has special meaning to me as it was one that I could find growing in my backyard each spring and when I was out playing I would pretend that I was a princess and that these flowers were given to me by my handsome prince. They didn’t have an over powering scent and so they were easy for me to be around, along with some were pink, blue, yellow and also white and those were all colors a little princess would love to receive.
My husband gives me these type flowers on our wedding anniversary and I love them because they are leaves that turn into flowers. The leaves start out a bold green color and over time develop spots where the color begins to change as the leaf curls around to begin forming the shape of the flower. To me it’s just beauty that you can watch, similar to a caterpillar changing into a beautiful butterfly.
I had photographed these flowers for many years and finally I was able to capture a white one in a way that I loved. To me it looks sophisticated, elegant, a reminder of faith and love. I hope you will enjoy it too.
“Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they toil not, neither do they spin; even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these.” – Matthew 6:28-29 (NKJV)

Have a blessed day!
During the holidays I like to watch a few of the Christmas movies each year to help me feel a bit more festive during this time. But no matter what I always watch a version of Scrooge. My favorite version is Scrooge (the musical) starring Albert Finney that was released in 1970.
No matter who you are you can relate to the initial Scrooge that is hard working, focused on responsibilities and ignores the more fun and joyous things he could experience over the course of his life. We all get caught up in the day-to-day rut of making a living and dealing with our responsibilities. We have budgets, jobs with overtime and deadlines, children to juggle, family events, a spouse and then on top of it all we throw in Thanksgiving and Christmas.
This race we all run needs some balance. In Scrooge thanks to the Spirits that worked through the night to show Scrooge the error of his ways they manage to find the kid in him. The one that does want to have fun, find love, be nice, and even enjoy Christmas with his family. He wants to be a good guy but seems to far gone to feel the need to change in his later years.
Well, he does change and he does good things for those in his life. We can do the same, by scheduling time for our family, time for our spouse, time for family events, around our jobs and passions in life. If it’s a priority to you, then you will make it happen.
Think about how in 2015 you can have a weekly date night to get close with your spouse or significant other, have a weekly family night to spend with just your kids or relatives. You need also a time for yourself, a time to dream, a time to relax, a time to fill your soul with the passion you have for that dream or goal. No more settling for in this coming year, be more than you ever thought possible by taking one step at a time, one day at a time towards something greater.
Stretch yourself and set some goals that you have been afraid to try and try them anyway. Conquer the fear in your life. I know I have overcome several in 2014 and I have many more to slay in 2015. Join me this 2015 to find your passion and conquer your fears to make them a reality. I know you can. I believe in you.
Have a wonderful and blessed day!
